The Ark That Saves
Let me introduce myself. I accepted Christ in my late teen, without any dramatic experience, I just believe this God is true and worthy of my faith. I came to Canada with student visa and obtained MD degree at the University of Toronto. I attended the downtown CPC just because it was next doors, for 25 years, then I went to MCPC for another few decades. Here I am, a retiring medical doctor, a wife and a grandmother, a Christian most of all.
I have an understanding of the ark that I want to share with you. It is not only the ark which saved Noah’s family, it is not only the ark serving testimony for the Jews. It is the ark that saves me and holds me inside Jesus Christ to ride the raging angry and stormy sea of God’s righteousness.
Those are a lot of big words, let me explain to you in detail.
At Noah’s time, people in his generation were beyond repentance so God chose to judge the world by a flood that rained 40 days nonstop. Noah spent many years to build the wooden boat in the exact design by God’s instructions. His family did try very hard to persuade neighbours and friends to come into the ark to escape death, but no one came, only the animals and birds. God Himself shut the entrance door after the last animal stepped in. Noah then became the ancestor of all human race. He is saved from God’s judgement because he has faith.
Moses led millions of Jews away from Egypt which enslaved them. He brought them back to Canaan the promised land for the Jews. To commemorate God’s significance, inside the wooden box the ark, is a bowl of manna that sustained their life in the desert for 40 years, and Arron’s staff that performed miracles for God.
What is the ark to us nowadays Christians? It is no longer the boat or a box made of wood. It is now the incarnate body of Christ we Christians dwell in!! Hallelujah! Underneath Jesus’ feet is the raging storm of God’s judgement. Without Jesus Christ, we can drown and we can get nowhere having been alive on earth for a brief period! But because of our Lord Jesus Christ we not only ride the storm when we are living on earth, we also will get somewhere, the destination of our live will be heaven where God is.
What did Jesus do to calm the sea? Of course all he did was telling it to calm down. But what did he do to calm God’s rage of righteousness? Let me tell you, my key message is, he calmed God’s rage by giving the sacrifice of dying on the cross for our sin, exactly as planned by God for Adam because God loves the human He created.
Brothers and sisters, consider yourselves blessed because we live in God’s love and in His kingdom. Do not stop to glorify Him by professing our faith, preaching the gospel to whoever we meet. This is the reason why we live.
I bear witness to God who loves me, sent Jesus to be my holding place and give me peace in my life, and hope, for a destination in heaven with God.
